How Tween Therapy Works

Tween Therapy consists of 50-minute, one-on-one sessions that help you work through your concerns. In addition to listening, I will ask questions and guide you towards solutions. I play an active role. Here’s how it will work step-by-step:

  1. First, I provide a safe, accepting space where both you and your tween can share your struggles with me.
  2. I'll use games and other activities to build a strong therapeutic relationship with your tween, so that they can tell their story even when words fail them.
  3. Together we will set specific goals for therapy.
  4. Keeping these unique goals in mind, we will make a plan for our sessions together: sometimes just your tween and I will meet. Other times you and your tween will participate in the session. This is a collaborative process where your input and the input of your tween are essential.
  5. Over the course of our sessions, your tween will start building self confidence and coping strategies that will help them throughout their lives. And you will feel confident in your ability to support them.
